“If it ain’t broke don’t fix it,” is an expression we probably all heard at some point. So, if it is broke…then try something new. A new avenue or possibility.

That’s what I decided to do. I wanted to discover a new way to meet a guy so I downloaded Jswipe. Before I knew it, I matched with a guy and we started messaging. We were a few minutes in to asking each other questions when he suggested that we should just meet up.

I pasted his name into the internet search bar and looked him up on social media. I noticed we had a mutual connection on Facebook and asked about Mr. Jswipe. I liked what I heard.

That night we went on a date. He wasn’t a good fit for me, but the experience taught me some valuable things that I want to pass on to you:

1. In a way it was good there wasn’t time to sit on it. I needed to just go for it. No time to overanalyze or overthink. (though of course we could’ve messaged longer, but there’s still somewhat of a natural progression to seeing each other, so long as everything is adding up).

2. It was a direct approach. No need to wait for the chain of communication.

3. It could be quick. Sometimes it’s the norm to give someone two dates, but when you’re calling the shots, and you are confident in your decision, then the whole experience can be quick and simple.

If the way you’re going about it now is working, then great! But if you’re open to trying something different, go for it! You never know what you can learn along the way!
